The lingerie buying experience can often be fun filled but you should know what to do in order to make the experience more rewarding. To start with, don’t shy away from using the dressing rooms in the lingerie stores that you visit. They serve a useful purpose even though the lighting may not be to your liking and the mirrors may be a bit tacky. But, selecting the proper lingerie item would help overcome these shortcomings and being able to buy a comfortable as well as complimentary item would make up for your reservations about using the dressing rooms. You should also take care to check out the fabric that the lingerie item is made from, which must feel soft against your skin. You may be taken in by some of the lace stuff available at the stores, which often seem very tempting on the clothes racks, but may cause you some amount of agitation when worn. You should opt for a romantic as well as sexy lingerie item, which should highlight a particular mood. If your partner is accompanying you on your buying expedition, then you could add some fun to the occasion by also inviting him or her to select the particular lingerie item. You would also be well advised to have sat down before even entering a store and have written down a complete list of all that you want for your lingerie pieces. Browsing a lingerie catalog would help. When making the list, be sure that you are brutally frank and honest about your likes and dislikes. This will make selecting lingerie fun to do as well as act as a spring to galvanize you into looking for items that will suit you as well as provide you and your partner with some quality time spent selecting an appropriate piece of lingerie.

FASHION TRENDS IN LINGERIE
Think that styles in lingerie remain the same year after year? It might surprise you to know that fashion trends in lingerie are changing just as quick as Chanel’s Cruise collection replaces Chanel Resort wear. It can seem like a lost cause trying to educate fellow fashionistas on the fickle nature of trends. Just because something is considered a trend doesn’t mean it will suit your style! The same goes for trends in lingerie. From sheer underwear to biker chick lingerie, what we wear underneath our clothes is a comment on our personality and style, just as much as the dress we choose to wear over it.
As we venture further into 2009, vintage style is making a huge comeback in womens lingerie. Fine detail, from frilly ruffles and bows, to intricately designed corsets and basques, is featuring in a number of lingerie labels. Inspired by decades past is the return of high waisted briefs, with soft roses and chocolate browns proving popular colour choices. Soft mesh and lace are revealing themselves as the favoured fabrics, and lingerie label Elle Macpherson Intimates are fine tuning this trend with beautiful stretch lace and bow detail.
Why Sexy Lingerie for Older Women?
The idea of a woman being sexy after marriage and children is one that still rankles with a lot of people, including women. It’s as though sexual appeal is just for young, unmarried women and once a woman is over a certain age, she is wisest to stop thinking of herself as sexy, because no one else will. The European idea is very different – they see women as becoming more sexually appealing as they age, because she gains in knowledge and experience.Men who used to think a woman over fifty couldn't possibly be sexy may have seen Helen Mirren and changed their minds. Women can be sexy for many decades, so why not have the underwear to enhance it?
Lingerie: Can Be both Sexy and Comfortable
Lingerie can be sexy, and comfortable as well as long it is the right size. Don''t try to wear bras and underwear for the size you want to be, wear the right size for you and you will be more comfortable and definitely more yourself.
It is estimated that over 70% of women wear the wrong bra size. A bra that is too tight can leave a pinching red mark on your back caused by the tightened elastic. It will also lead to bad posture because the breasts are not supported correctly. If you are wearing a bra where you are coming out of it or your curves not smooth than the bra may be too small. If the strap of the bra is coming up from under your rib cage the bra may be too small as well. Make sure to have the correct measurements and then go from there.
In buying underwear it depends on what the occasion will be as you would probably not wear the same underwear painting your house as you would if you were at the clubs. A thong can be a sexy piece of underwear with the right outfit but it can also be uncomfortable at times. Pick the underwear that fits you, comfortable, and fits the occasion.
When buying sexy lingerie pick something that could get your lover excited but don''t just pick it because you want to see either your partner or you in it, pick it for your partner as you will be happier later. You can shop for lingerie together or make a surprise gift for a special occasion or just to surprise them. Its all about what taste you have: if you like it try it, if not leave it. It all matters as to what can turn a couple on, not anyone else.
Why men attracted to lingerie?
Men are different in there own ways, but when it comes to eyeing a woman the sexiest outfit that clicks their mind has to be a sexy lingerie. Men are creatures who love mystery, excitement, and tease generally known as the MET Factor.
A man finds these three combinations best when he sees a woman in lingerie. Men love those outfits that give a female body the girlish flare and that is why they turn up to a woman in lingerie. The seductive drive to a man is revealing outfits showing a portion of the skin they are not accustomed to.
Lingerie shows off enough skin while not revealing the secrets inside giving the feel of ultimate mystery and excitement. Women feel to be more feminine and sexy wearing lingerie. That gives them to figure out the passion and charm they have not yet discovered or been afraid to show before.
Men like visualizing things when it comes to sex. The desire to have a sexual encounter builds up in their mind when they see a woman with revealing outfits and a woman in lingerie has that perfect combination.
They start imagining stimulating images in their mind looking at the woman with those outfits and the desire of having sex takes on a peak when they come to have a sensuous touch of the material.
Panties
Women's panties have their origins in the 1920's when bloomers (long underwear) became shorter and looser as the flapper look came into fashion. The panties of this time were called step-ins.
Bra
In 1913, a New York socialite named Mary Phelps Jacob changed women's fashion forever when she cobbled the first brassiere together by tying two handkerchiefs together with ribbon. Jacob's original intention was to cover the whalebone sticking out of her corset, which was visible through her sheer dress. Jacob began making brassieres for her family and friends, and word of mouth soon spread about the garment. By 1914, Jacob had a patent for her design and was marketing it throughout the United States. Although women had worn brassiere-like garments years past, Jacob's was the first to be successfully marketed and widely adopted.

Polka Dots
Black and white polka dots, whether ditzy or large, was another trend that straddled both the lingerie and swimwear collections and it was largely favoured by the younger end of the market. In swimwear, polka dots were seen across bikinis rather than one-piece swimsuits, but there was no distinction in sizing between lingerie and swimwear collections, with both opting for large and small prints. Most brands opted for two-colour combinations and co-ordinating trims, while more adventurous labels added prints, floral motifs and bows to the mix. Although the polka dots were either white or black, background shades were predominantly red or pink.
Purple
Mirroring autumn 07's womenswear trend, the lingerie market has added purple to its autumn 08 colour palette. Every shade goes, from delicate lilac embroidery and deep, shiny aubergines, to soft lavender and rich plum.
Blue
Not content with dominating spring 08's swimwear trends and spring 07's lingerie collections, blue is back this season but with bolder, brighter and more varied shades. Unlike its pink counterpart, blue hues have found their way into both lingerie and swimwear collections and have stuck to colour blocking as opposed to mixing it up with prints. Turquoise was a key choice within swimwear, which kept designs simple, while lingerie braved a mixture of tones, from violet to baby blue. Tone-on tone embroidery, sheer fabrics and bow detailing added interest to the lingerie collections.
Pink
Last year's favourite – yellow – has been replaced by pink this season, which has set the tone for a much brighter colour palette. Reserved largely for lingerie collections, pink was picked up by most brands. Coral pink was the definitive favourite across most trend-led brands, while younger collections opted for hot and lobster pink shades. Labels targeting an older customer toned it down by using pink as an accent colour, mixing it up with bows and floral embroideries. Although colour blocking was widespread, brands spruced up their collections with contrasting lace or prints borders.
